In this article, I would like to talk something about Super Golf Star of 2011. If you are looking for good wholesale golf equipment, I would like to recommend the good Ping G15 Driver and R9 Driver to you.
It is once again wide open, as six players came into the tournament with two victories this year on the PGA Tour and another, Luke Donald, has carried the world's No. 1 ranking for most of the season.
"I think a win this week would sway a lot of people's minds," said Donald, who won the WGC-Accenture Match Play, lost in a playoff at the Heritage and leads the PGA Tour with 12 top-10 finishes. "No one has really dominated as much as they have when Tiger was winning. A couple of guys won a few events, two events, but there's no clear-cut winner.
"And I think the guy who wins this week, especially if it's out of the bunch of guys that are in contention for it, I think he's got a good shot."
The six players who have won twice this year are Webb Simpson, who is No. 1 in FedEx Cup points and on the money list, Keegan Bradley, Nick Watney, Bubba Watson, Mark Wilson and Steve Stricker.
Watson and Bradley are tied for fifth through two rounds, three strokes back of tournament leader Adam Scott -- who could also make a claim for player of the year with a victory. That would give him two wins, including a World Golf Championship event. At 19th in the FedEx Cup standings, he would need to win and have a good bit of help to claim the $10 million bonus prize, but he'd be among the group of players with two victories.
Donald has a lone victory, but his consistency and overall No. 1 ranking coupled with a win and a FedEx Cup crown would almost assuredly make the difference. Bradley is the only player in the field who won a major championship this year, and that helps him stand out among the two-win players.
Woods' first full year was 1997 and prior to last year he was PGA Player of the Year in all but three seasons -- 1998, 2004 and 2008. Mark O'Meara won two majors in 1998, Vijay Singh won nine times including a major in 2004 and Padraig Harrington won two majors in 2008 -- a year when Woods won four times in just six events and missed the last half of the season due to injury.
Going back to the inception of the award, known as the Jack Nicklaus Award, in 1990, only four times has the honor gone to a player with just two victories, and in three of those instances, the player won a major.
